stunning example of design from this era in very fine condition

the gently fitted satin bodice with sheer chiffon illusion neckline and Chantilly lace elbow-length sleeves overlayed with blouson Chantilly lace "vest". the column skirt lightly bustled at the back, with Chantilly lace "apron" and sash that snaps at the hip. finished with a gathered asymmetrical bow and long tails trimmed in bullion tassels. closes along the left hip and bodice with a series of overlapping snaps and hooks. thoughtful construction, amazing quality and details.

label: a bespoke piece by Chandler & Co., Boston (note: Chandler & Co. was a popular department store in Boston's downtown shopping district, which opened in the early-mid 1800s and operated until its merger with competitor Conrad's in 1958)

sizing: fits like a modern xs/s-s (approx. size 6)
model is 5’ 3” 32 b| 24 w | 34 h, dress was a tad big on her.

condition: very good vintage condition. feels overall sturdy and wearable (with the care due to a 100 year old piece of course!)  faint water marks on satin- noticeable on inspection but not distracting. marks along hem where metal tassels were stored up against the satin. one rusty colored mark on lace overlay on skirt which I have not attempted to lift- but may come out or lighten with spot treatment. a few scattered pen-tip sized/colored mark on bodice - very subtle.some faint dust/dingy spots on skirt from storage. each underarm has a small tear to lace where the sleeve meets the satin bodice- spots that have likely been a little weakened from small perspiration marks. these are hidden under the arm when worn, and further covered by the lace overlay. I also believe they could be successfully reinforced and stabilized with netting or lace patches. I have not attempted any mends, or had this cleaned as I don't think its absolutely needed- but careful cleaning/restoration may very well take care of these small flaws.
