simple + sweet antique cotton nightgown (dress) with pleated and yoked bodice, eyelet ruffle trim at neck and cuffs, and three-button closure with open slit. wear in the back or front.
twice-dipped by hand in We, McGee's natural indigo vat to achieve an earthy, mellow mottled blue tone.
condition: very good. small length of collar was reattached to neckline (not notable when worn). a previous owner opened the wrists somewhat crudely (I'm guessing the original wrists may have been narrow). I left the slits, but sewed down the raw edges to give them a more finished look, see image. there's a line of ghost stitches around the shoulders, I guess possibly a lace or ribbon detail that was removed at some point. expected wear for an everyday garment such as this. carefully rinsed and washed to prevent color loss. Some mottled toning and slight variations to dye, one dark mark as photographed. We recommend washing our indigo dyed pieces on a cold, gentle setting with a natural ph neutral detergent with like colors (gentle hand wash works too!), and air drying out of direct sun to best preserve the natural color.
