antique, c. 1820s-30s
Tidy, rectangular form with hand-etched latticework design on the front and back. A small blank field in the center front is reserved for adding a monogram. Hinges open to a gold-washed interior. The exterior has some hints of gold-wash still but it is mostly worn to silver. Interior grill that would originally have housed a scented sponge or piece of cloth is missing. Offered with a modern 18" sterling silver rolo chain with spring ring clasp.
With British hallmarks including lion passant, duty mark, Birmingham anchor, maker "TS", and letter date that is hard to make out (possibly a cursive "A" in a shield).
1 3/8" total length including bale, box itself is 1" long, 5/8" wide, 3/8" deep.
Good condition. missing internal grill as noted. Snaps closed.
