Early 1950s Berry Bramble Cotton Day Dress
Early 1950s Berry Bramble Cotton Day Dress
early 1950s vintage
a sweet but not-too-sweet summery cotton day dress with a print of raspberry brambles in greys on a robin’s egg blue ground. shirtwaist style buttons down the front with wide decorative collar and faux pockets. with original coordinating belt.
Materials: cotton
label: Marvel, Fast to Washing
sizing: best for a L-XL (although not tall). there is a lot of seam allowance to work with, if you need 1-2 more inches (see condition notes)
shoulders: 17”
bust: 45”
waist: 39”
hips: 48”
bodice length: 16”
skirt length: 28”
condition: very good/excellent. Sturdy, clean, no holes, presents beautifully. Print is a bit all-over faded, but its pretty and even. The dress has had a few adjustments made: it is taken in all the way up the sides about 1” (each side) and an extra hole was added to the belt. you may want to add more holes to belt to have more flexiblity to cinch, as right now it is 39" at its smallest size. it was taken up, then let down at some point (veery faint, partial crease remains but I see no fade line). the button placket was top-stitched down through the lap area, so even though there are functional buttons, from the hip to the knee doesn’t open. This stitching could be removed if desired. Missing bottom most button. Freshly laundered.
