antique c. 1850
Uniquely designed pocket watch key and locket combo in a warm patinated gold finish, with two glass frames on either side -the first, concealed behind an oval door hand-etched with a church/town scene, which opens to a daguerreotype of a rather stern-looking woman, the second remains empty and was likely intended to hold a lock of hair- in a wreath-like surround with floral accents, and suspended on a fancy bale with scalloped edge and and-etched details. Key appears to correspond to a size 0 setting square.
unmarked
material: gold over pot metal, glass
2" x 1"
Very good condition. Wear to gold finish as seen. The back glass frame has two hairlines, but overall seems stable in its frame. If you plan to try and remove glass frames to add or replace photos, we recommend working with a trained jeweler.
