Antique Victorian Hairwork Earrings

antique c. 1880s

each designed from two braided loops of human hair, formed into a dimensional drop shape, finished with gold tone caps and suspended on hooks. unmarked.

note: hairwork jewelry was incredibly popular in the Victorian era as a way to remember and keep loved ones close.  Some pieces were made In Memoriam (after a person's passing), others were made simply as sentimental keepsakes.

total length from top of hook is 2", from top of drop is 1 1/2" . 7/8" wide.

very good/excellent condition. very wearable, if treated with care.
