c. 1890s
simple and elegant gold-washed sterling setting with glass face, containing a woven plait of blonde hair. tube-hinged pin with c-clasp. unmarked.
1 1/4" long, 1" wide, 1/4" deep
note: the sentimental practice of incorporating hair into jewelry or accessories was common in the Victorian era for men and women. These pieces were not always meant as mourning jewelry! they could also be made and gifted to keep a loved one (a sweetheart, or a child who no longer lived nearby for instance) nearby.
very good antique condition. a few small dings on the back, pin has little wobble in it, but works just fine!
